MEET The Exec!!!!!!!!!

President - Alison Thompson

Alison is a 4th year Social Science student majoring in Psychology with a minor in French. She enjoys spending time with friends and family, traveling and staying active. Alison joined the choir during her first year at Mac knowing very little about gospel music and has grown to love it! It has been a great way to build relationships with fellow Christians on campus and have a place to go every Wednesday night to forget about school and focus on God. Alison is faithful that God has great plans for MGC this school year!

Vice President - MIkayla Allen
I'm in my third year Communications and Linguistics Major at McMaster University. I love being involved and gospel choir is a huge part of my life. I love God, His Word and everything he's allowed me to experience in my life. I hope get to know everyone in MGC and to let Him show through me this year as VP.

Chaplin - Nashara Peart
Nashara is in her 2nd year in the faculty of social sciences and has been in MGC since 1st year. Ever since she has enjoyed it and is excited to take on the Chaplain role this year. Her passion and love for God is evident through the various bible study groups she takes part in on campus. She loves music and hopes to win souls for Christ as we sing and minister to people.

 Chaplin - Jullian Houston
My name is Julian Houston, 21 yrs old 4th year student at McMaster, program life science honors. I've been a Christian all my life but I would say that only recently in the past 1 or 2 years have I been realizing what that means and actually making it an important factor in becoming who God wants me to be.  And achieving this through Him and not relying on my own strength. I love gospel music and hope to have a fun this year sending the word of God through song.

Secretary - Sasha Mitchell
My name is Sasha Mitchell and I’m a third year Life Science student. I first got involved with music playing the piano, the alto saxophone, and singing in church choirs. Gospel music has always stood out for me from every genre because it can strengthen and touch you in
such a unique way. Joining the choir in my second year was an immense blessing. Choir was a time in the week that I could spend praising God with others that shared a similar passion for Him.

 Fundraising Co-ordinator - Robyn Howitt
Robyn is 3rd year student at McMaster and currently studying religious studies & sociology. She loves God and always desires to sing for God. She expresses great joy in doing the work of God, and hopes this year is filled with many great things to come for MGC.

 Treasurer - Katherine Jongsma
Hi, my name is Katherine Jongsma. I was born and raised in Brampton in a Christian family. I have always believed in God, and when I was in grade one I accepted Jesus as my personal saviour. I grew a lot in my relationship with God in grade 11 and 12. When I came to university I got connected with the Gospel Choir and Navigators (a Christian group). I have been very blessed by the people in each fellowship, and I am so thankful to God for their support and love. I am very adventurous and love to travel. I am majoring in Psychology and this year I have the challenge and privilege of being an Intropsych TA. This year I am Gospel Choir and Navigators`s treasurer. I am very excited for this responsibility and I take it very seriously. I look forward to getting to know everyone in Gospel Choir and worshiping God together.

Musical Director - Yhentl Pryce
Hello everyone! My name is Yhentl Pryce and I am one of the co-directors for this choir year 2010-2011.  I am currently in my last year of studies with a psychology major with the hopes of graduating this summer.  I joined MGC in my first year at McMaster and I have never looked back.  I love singing because it allows me to escape and go into a place where I can be happy.  Singing gospel music especially makes me feel good because it brings me joy and the messages in the songs always somehow relate to my life.  I want to see us as a choir continue to grow as a family and not as separate units.  Also, I would like for us to challenge ourselves as singers and sing not to sound good but because we have a gift and we want to share it with the world.

Musical Director- Vivian Ntiri
My name is Vivian Ntiri, and I am one of 2 Musical Directors for the McMaster Gospel Choir. I’m currently in my 3rd year at Mac studying Earth and Environmental Sciences. Singing is a great way to not only relieve stress, but to spread the Gospel. I’ve been singing and playing instruments since I was a child, and coming to Mac I was excited and relieved when I found out about MGC—it meant I wouldn’t have to give up what I love doing! This year is going to be another fantastic year for the choir by the grace of God. I hope and pray that through our song ministrations many (ourselves included) will come to know God and grow closer to Him.

Social Convenor - Lois Varughese
Joining MGC was something unexpected and out of the blue. After hearing them sing at one of their performances, I was so encouraged and excited to know that there was a group who was so thrilled to praise God. It has been a true blessing being part of a family that is so focused around God and so willing to show that love to others. It has only made my walk with God stronger and enabled me to express the love I have for Jesus without any limits. It is my hope and desire that as we sing, the beauty of Jesus, and none other, be seen in us.

Promotions/Multimedia Designer - Osahon Osawe
My name is Osahon, I am a 3rd year student studying Nursing & religious studies. I enjoy spending time with my people, family, friends and love to sing. I also love the Lord and his work. I joined the choir in my very first year 4 years ago, and since then I have always been a member. For me, sharing the gospel through music is the best medium to do so- this is why I love to sing. Gospel is also a form f expression of gratitude to Jesus our Lord. One of my philosophies in life stems is: "Love God, love yourself & love others". I feel that it is the love of God that draws us closer together as a choir. I pray this year brings many great memories as we sing to glorify God.
